PUERTO PRINCESA CITY
 

The provincial capital, it is the center of trade, commerce and education and the gateway to the last frontier.  Situated at the mid-section of the island, it has a total land area of 210,670 hectares.  Presently acclaimed as the CLEANEST AND GREENEST CITY Hall of Famer in the Philippines.

 
St. Paul Subterranean National Park (Underground River)
 
Three hours drive from the city proper to Sabang, on the western coast of Palawan; and half hour by pumpboat to St. Paul beach, where the entrance to the world's longest underground river is located.  Outside river's mouth is a beautiful lagoon that teems with fish.
 
On board a small boat with outriggers and equipped with searchlight, one enters a mystical environment exploring the pitch-dark inner recesses of the cavern.  At every turn and bend in its navigable stalactite pillared interior appears different rock formation and domed amphitheater.
 
 
Islands in Honda Bay
 
Located at the eastern side of Puerto Princesa, it is 12 kilometers away from the city property  Sta. Lourdes wharf where a pumpboat will take you to visit one island after another and enjoy the distinct activity each island has to offer.  Most of the islands have fine white sand beaches, and moving among the islands will take from 30 minutes to an hour.
 
 
Ulugan Bay
 
Located at the western side of Puerto Princesa City.  It is 47 kilometers away from the city proper to Bahile Wharf where pumpboats are available.  Islands like Tres Marias and Rita Island are within this bay.
 
 
Crocodile Farm
 
A farming institute which aims to conserve endangered species of crocodiles, and to develop suitable crocodile farming technology.  It also maintains a mini-zoo featuring some of Palawan's endemic animals.  It is 30-40 minutes (by land) from the heart of the city.
 
 
Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm
 
Known as the oldest prison without bars, it is a rehabilitation farm where the inmates, as the prisoners are called, live and work like free men in the field farming, handicraft and woodcraft.  It is 40 minutes to an hour from the center of the city.
 
 
 
Tabon Cave
 
It is several kilometers away from Puerto Princesa where remains of the first Filipino of the second to the oldest human bones were found.  Composed of several interlacing caves with their unique characteristics that really amazed the human mind.
 
 
Batak Tribe
 
Another group of nomadic Batak Tribe can be found some 69 kilometers by jeepney ride to Barangay San Rafael.  The jungle trek will make you cross several rivers on foot and see rain forest and endangered animals along the way.  An overnight stay in the tribal community will give you an on-hand experience of the lifestyle of this people.
